Where is Bali Located?
Bali is located in Southeast Asia, in a group of islands called the Lesser Sunda Islands on the Java Sea. Although the province of Bali includes the eponymous island, there are smaller size islands such as Nusa Ceningan, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Penida that make up the majority part of Bali.
If this reads too complicated for you, let me put it down easy for you. Bali is situated in the Indian Ocean (same as India), quite close to the Pacific Ocean. If you’re someone traveling from India, you’ll need to head southeast, traveling almost 5,000 km to reach Bali. its specific coordinates are 8.3405° South latitude and 115.0920° East longitude.
To add to your knowledge, Bali consists of nine administrative regions spread across 5,780 square kilometers. A total of 8 regencies including Gianyar, Badung, Jembrana, Karangasem, Tabanan, Buleleng, Bangli & Klungkung, and a city i.e., Denpasar (the capital of Bali) form the administrative regions of Bali.
Is Bali a country or a city?
I find many people puzzled with the question – Is Bali a country or a city?
So, let me break it down for you, Bali is neither a country nor a city.
It’s a beautiful island (unlike the regular one) and a province of Indonesia. This means it’s part of a larger country made up of thousands of islands. This might come as a surprise for you but Indonesia alone is made up of 17,000 islands, but Bali stands out amidst all because of its unique culture and welcoming people.
Bali : A Blend of Cultures
Indonesia is mainly a Muslim country with around 87.2% of the population following the Islam religion. Nonetheless, it is more of a secular nation officially following 6 religions including Hinduism and Christianity.
However, Bali is different. If you look back at the history and culture of Bali, you’ll find most Balinese are directed towards Hinduism. Among the population of 20,000 in the province of Bali, almost 83% identify themselves as Hindus. However, after Hinduism, Islam is the most followed religion in Bali. Nonetheless, considering the practice of secularism, people of all religions and faiths are wholeheartedly welcomed and respected here.
How to Reach Bali?
Bali is now equipped with all the modern and efficient travel facilities. But what I personally love the most is the Bali Airport which was even rated as the third best airport in the world by the Airport Council International in the year 2016.
Well, keeping that aside, the easiest way to reach Bali is by air. Many airlines offer flights to Bali with a layover. Besides, you can also find direct flights to Bali from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Australia, and many such places from around the globe.
However, there are no direct flights for travelers traveling from the United States. Nonetheless, if you are an American, you can take a flight to Singapore, Tokyo, Bangkok, or Kuala Lumpur and then get a connecting flight to Bali.
When is the Best Time to Visit Bali?
Bali has two main seasons: dry and wet. The dry season, from April to October, is perfect for outdoor activities and exploring the island. The wet season, from November to March, brings rain but also lush greenery. December is considered the high season, so expect more tourists and higher prices.
However, if you don’t want to get into all these considerations and calculations, know that Bali is a place that you can visit any time of the year; it will always offer you the same warmth and comfort. Nevertheless, if I were to put up the best time to visit Bali, it’d be between April to June, when there is a much lesser crowd and the best deals.
Bali: A Honeymooner’s Paradise
Apart from the travel freaks, you’d often find Bali occupied with newly wedded couples. But there’s no one to blame, Bali is famous for its romantic atmosphere which makes it an ideal honeymoon destination. If you’re also planning a honeymoon trip or simply traveling with your loved one to Bali, you can enjoy private dinner dates on the beach, take some relaxing spa treatments, and experience sunset cruises and submarine tours. The island’s stunning landscapes and luxury resorts provide the perfect backdrop for a memorable honeymoon.
Conclusion
Bali’s beauty and culture make it a truly special destination. Whether you’re exploring its temples, relaxing on its beaches, or indulging in its cuisine, Bali offers a unique and unforgettable experience. And you know what’s the best of all? You can even learn traditional style cooking from the local chefs who introduce you to the exotic flavors of Asia and help you master those cooking skills. And for a more authentic experience, try the farm-to-plate culinary experience where you can buy your own ingredients before you get inside the kitchen.
All in all, Bali is a treasure trove of experiences which makes it one of the best travel destinations in the world.
